Last month, we ran a paid campaign on Facebook to increase page 'likes'. We ran the campaign for a week and received over 150 likes! A wonderful result, which has prompted us to re-advertise again on Monday 15th the week prior to market day. Further to this, we will also be undertaking some ‘target marketing’ on Facebook and other social media outlets.
Along with the advertising above, we have also been in contact with the following media associations:
Metropolitan Newspapers:
Metropolitan Radio
We have organised 1,000 badges with our logo (round) on them. I’ll have them on market day and I ask that stall holders wear them for this and future markets. We will also be handing them out to market attendees.
Thanks to Stacey and her wonderful team at Costume Box Kids Entertainment, we will have Minnie and Mickey Mouse, along with Daffy Duck roaming around the school and down the main streets of Kensington, entertaining children with face painting and balloon twisting. Hopefully we will be able to secure a group of circus performers and roving buskers on the day as well! We will also have the petting zoo back in September which was well received last month.
Given this wonderful opportunity, I have organised commemorative "Birthday" posters and postcards. Please see images attached. Primarily, the posters will be placed around the streets of Kensington and Flemington and in selected stores. We will be advertising in the Ascot Vale Primary School newsletter and distributing “Birthday” postcards to Holy Rosary, St Brendan's and Kensington Primary school families the week prior to market day. There are approximately 300 children at each school. The remainder of the pamphlets will be hand delivered to all houses in the Kensington and Flemington precincts. We will also be having a feature editorial in the Spring edition of the Kensington/Flemington newspaper.
Further to this, we continue our monthly precinct marketing activities:
We will continue quarterly advertising space (Winter Edition) in the Kensington/Flemington newspaper which covers all of the Kensington and Flemington areas (and a few surrounding streets). We will also be having an editorial in the Spring edition.
We are re-advertising in the Maribyrnong/Hobsons Bay newspaper. The colour advert is 13 x 6cm and will be distributed in the following areas: Altona; Altona Meadows; Altona North; Braybrook; Brooklyn; Footscray; West Footscray; Kingsville; Laverton; Maidstone; Maribyrnong; Newport; Seddon; Spotswood; Williamstown and Yarraville. That's over 60,000 homes in a brilliant part of Melbourne - very eclectic and diverse pockets of communities in the west that embrace markets! The advert will come out on the 16th September and I have attached a proof to this email.
New market posters printed and they have been placed in the Kensington and Flemington shopping precincts along with market postcards in selected stores.
On market day, volunteers and Committee members will be in attendance and hand out flyers to people in the Kensington Shopping Strips, namely Macaulay and Bellair Streets. We will also have chalk signage on the main roads, along with bunting, market signage and balloons at the front gates.
Electronic links available to all stall holders are as follows:
We are always open to any advertising suggestions that you may have, so please feel free to email me and share your thoughts.

- Channel 31 have agreed to come on board yet again this month to promote our market on their "Living Melbourne" segment! Coverage will begin on Thursday 18th September and will continue until Saturday evening. We are ecstatic for their support!
- The September market commemorates our 1st Birthday! We're very excited and have lots of wonderful activities planned on the day which will hopefully drum up extra people through the gates.
